Wacky Wednesday: Costume Party Edition – When “Alignment” Goes Trick-or-Treating

ree

Your team decides to go all in this year: matching costumes, coordinated effort, total unity.

Everyone’s excited. They plan, they prep, they sync calendars.

And somehow, on the big night…

• Half the team shows up at the downtown rooftop party.

• A few are across town at a house party with the same theme.

• One poor soul is outside the wrong venue, in a giant banana suit, wondering where everyone went.

They all followed the plan — just not to the same destination.

That’s misalignment in organizations:

Everyone’s working hard, everyone means well, but somewhere between vision and execution, the map got fuzzy.

Alignment isn’t enthusiasm. It’s direction, clarity, and confirming we’re headed to the same address before we leave the house.

So yes — bring the creativity, the energy, the costumes.

But before we hit “go,” let’s double-check the invite.

Because nothing’s scarier than realizing you nailed the brief…

for the wrong party.
